Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and is additional government funding for schools allocated to students who are eligible for free school meals (FSM) now, or any time in the last 6 years (Ever6). The premium also provides for looked after children (which is held centrally), previously looked after children (5 years) and for children whose parents are serving in the armed forces now, or any time in the last 3 years (Ever3).
Gaps in achievement between those who are eligible for Pupil Premium and those who are not, should be kept to a minimum or eradicated.
It is for schools to decide how to spend the Pupil Premium. In order to maximise progress and outcomes, two main items are required:
- Costed strategic planning
- Data tracking and intervention
