 Headteacher Welcome

Welcome to Bishop Tufnell CE Primary School!

As a Christian School, all of our children, regardless of their religious beliefs or backgrounds, learn essential life-skills and values in a happy and exciting environment.

In the last two years we have had two major inspections, in which we were graded a GOOD school; firstly Ofsted in Summer 2022 and then SIAMS (January 2024).

Ofsted: “Pupils are happy at school and enjoy their learning……. This is a school where all pupils are cherished”

SIAMS: “Bishop Tufnell is a highly effective Church School…… A positive, caring and happy atmosphere permeates the whole school”

Pupils at Bishop Tufnell love learning, and we give them lots of opportunities to learn in different ways, both in the classroom and outside in our spacious grounds. These include playgrounds, playing fields, nature areas and our very special woodland. The staff team at Bishop Tufnell are focussed on ensuring that children are ready to learn first thing in the morning, so that they can have a successful and productive day – every day! We recognise that all children have individual needs and learn in different ways; at Bishop Tufnell we know our pupils well and help them achieve their full potential.

Our curriculum is exciting and child-centred; it asks lots of interesting questions and gives children the time and space to enquire, explore and problem-solve. Our pupils take a pride in their work and we love celebrating those achievements with them! We encourage children in our school to be fit and healthy; they love PE lessons, after-school sports and representing the school at local tournaments. We were recently awarded a Schools Games Platinum Award for our sporting achievements!

As an inclusive school, we celebrate difference and encourage our pupils to reflect on their own spirituality as they journey through life. We prepare our pupils well, so they are more than ready to continue to flourish at Secondary School as confident, inquisitive and independent learners. We have high expectations of personal behaviour – we also have a zero-tolerance approach to bullying or discrimination of any kind.

We love being part of the local community and we liaise closely with other schools, organisations and the Local Authority. We are so proud of our improvement journey over the last six years and we would love to meet you, to show you our amazing school!

With best wishes,

Nick Sharp, Headteacher
